During the autumn of 2018 LEI Hydrology laboratory scientists continued a second round of planned habitat surveys of the Lielupė River basin. Through August 21-24 and September 11-12 experts collected hidro-morphological data at different segments of the rivers Mūša, Suosa and Lėvuo.
About the project: On April 11th, 2017 Lithuanian Energy Institute together with Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre and Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment started the project “Ecological flow estimation in Latvian–Lithuanian trans-boundary river basins”. Main purpose of the project is to prepare an elaborate new methodology on E-Flow evaluation based on habitat simulation model and recommendations for the amendment to national water legislation. The new legislation would ensure effective implementation of E-flow principles, improvement of the strategic planning for water uses and the permitting process.
