Testing an R&D idea – Assessment of water evaporation and condensation processes for climate change models (No. 10-038-T-0161)

 
The objective of the project Testing an R&D idea – Assessment of water evaporation and condensation processes for climate change models (No. 10-038-T-0161) is to prepare and application proposal for the Horizon Europe programme calls for proposals in the framework of an interdisciplinary project.

This project will carry out preparatory work to prepare the application and to obtain the necessary knowledge for the preparation of the application for the upcoming HORIZON calls “Improved knowledge in cloud-aerosol interaction” and “Improving Earth System Models” in the framework of an interdisciplinary project.

The HORIZON calls will be the subject of a research application to improve our novel and original methodology for the assessment of liquid evaporation/condensation processes. The improved methodology will allow a more accurate estimation of evaporation/condensation coefficients depending on the environmental conditions, which will enable a refinement of the current models of evaporation/condensation processes and of the complex interactions between clouds and aerosols used in the Earth systems models (ESM). The improved methodology and refined models will lead to more accurate forecasting of meteorological phenomena and to more reliable scenarios of global climate change.

The project is implemented under the Development Programme Manager of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania for the period 2021-2030, under the Development Programme Progress Measure No 12-001-01-02-01 “Strengthening innovation ecosystems in science centres” activity “Support for identified R&D start-up projects and feasibility studies with institutional roadmaps for successful participation in the calls of the European Union’s research and innovation programme “European Horizon””.
