HYTRAIN is a Marie Curie Research Training Network, funded under the EC’s 6th Framework Human Resources and Mobility Programme. The network comprises 18 of the leading European research centres, with the primary aim of training researchers in the area of hydrogen storage in solid media. In addition, HYTRAIN provides a forum for the integration of European research activities with a view to making a significant contribution to the world-wide research effort and the creation of Europe as a key international player in the field. Hydrogen storage research lies at the interface of condensed matter physics, chemistry and design engineering. Bridging the gap between these disciplines is a key feature of HYTRAIN’s ethos and is viewed as an essential part of ensuring the future success of hydrogen storage.

LEI activities in the Project

  • The fabrication of thin film materials for hydride storage on non-traditional hydrides that are capable of 5 wt.% hydrogen capacity with a desorption temperature of less than 400 K
  • The development of a non-equilibrium treatment technologies for the efficient hydrogenation of thin film materials.

Total cost: 2 653 631 EUR (LEI part: 81 019 EUR)
