OPET is the Network of Organization for the Promotion of Energy Technologies in European Union and other countries with focus on the development of a market for non-nuclear energy technologies. The network has been established by European Commission (EC) in 1995.
The main objective of the network is to promote the implementation of the new advanced energy technologies and to provide the increasingly comprehensive co-operation in energy research, development and dissemination.
Long-term strategic target of OPET network is to make the European Union (EU) the global leader in the exports of most efficient and research-based technologies for industry and energy sectors. This target can be achieved only if all the activities and efforts of national research centres of the region are co-ordinated and united.
In 1997, EC extended the OPET network by new organizations from Central and Eastern European countries.
LEI activities in the Project
The main objective of OPET-Lithuania project is to encourage and support the implementation of new and efficient energy technologies in Lithuania by taking all benefits of being the network member, as well as to transfer the best experience and achievements of other countries for Lithuanian specialists and society. By cohesion of knowledge, experience , skills and activities of both local and foreign specialists, OPET-Lietuva centre offers assistance to energy consumers, suppliers of technologies, manufacturers of equipment, seeking to respond to their needs related to new energy technologies.
Total cost: 18 460 000 EUR (LEI part: 214 744 EUR)
